If a version of macOS isn’t receiving new updates, it isn’t supported anymore. This release is supported with security updates, and the previous releases—macOS 10.12 Sierra and OS X 10.11 El Capitan—were also supported. When Apple releases macOS 10.14, OS X 10.11 El Capitan will very likely no longer be supported. OS X 10.11 El Capitan was released on September 30, 2015. macOS Mojave: if you'd like to download macOS Mojave (the latest at the time of writing), Apple's website states that you'll need a MacBook Pro produced in mid-2012 or more recently.
