I am very new to networking in general. For one of my assignments, I need to be able to ping two routers ( R5 must be able to ping R4 ) in different networks. For this, I set up routing in both R1 and R2. I used channels 11 and 6 for my two routers. Of course, you'll need an ethernet run going from a LAN port on your first router to a LAN port on your second router. In my case, each room has ethernet in the wall goingn to a gigabit switch.

There are times when having two separate networks - both sharing the same Internet connection - can come in handy. For example, I recently helped a community center with its network setup. They needed to provide Internet connection to tenants who were renting space, in addition to their own shared Internet.
